Throughout this process, Member States and observers, along with a wide range of stakeholders, were actively engaged in a number of high-level meetings (regional, thematic, intergovernmental negotiations, preparatory committees) as well as events advocating Habitat III and the New Urban Agenda (Urban Breakfasts, Urban Walks).

In the run-up to the conference, drafts of the New Urban Agenda were significantly informed by the national experiences in managing urban issues reported by governments. On top of preparing national reports for Habitat III, Member States and observers also delivered statements at high-level meetings, during negotiations, and at the conference, as well as submitted comments on knowledge products resulting from the preparatory process such as Issue Papers and Policy Papers.

It was through this active engagement that Member States and observers played a vital role in enriching Habitat III and the New Urban Agenda.
