Prepcom3 Side Events

Side events provided a platform for national, regional and local governments, civil society organisations, parliamentarians, research and academia, grassroots organisations, women, children and youth, business and industries, foundations and philanthropies, professionals, trade unions and workers, farmers, indigenous people, media and older persons, as well as intergovernmental organisations to present researches, projects or networks, signing of agreements, book launches, etc. on specific topics of relevance and interest within housing and sustainable urban development.

The open call for PrepCom3 side events closed on 15 June 2016. Hundreds of applications were reviewed against criteria that included but were not limited to the following:

  • One application per organization.
  • Joint applications with more co-applicants;
  • Relevance of issues for discussion or presentation at the side event to Habitat III and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
  • Balance among constituencies, and
  • Regional balance.
