Senior Adviser For Global Cities US Department Of State United States of AmericaIan Klaus serves as Senior Adviser for Global Cities at the U.S. Department of State. In this role, he leads the Department’s work at the nexus of urbanization and foreign policy, and engages on foreign policy priorities from countering violent extremism to addressing climate change and encouraging inclusive economic growth. He also currently serves as Deputy Negotiator for the United States delegation to Habitat III, a major global summit convened by the United Nations General Assembly on housing and sustainable urban development. As a member of Policy Planning, he has previously covered a range of issues including public diplomacy, international organizations, as well as Iraq and Jordan. He holds a Ph.D from Harvard University.
