I AM ALSO A FOUNDER OF THE KENYAN AGED PEOPLE REQUIRE INFORMATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ADVANCEMENT (KARIKA), WHICH IS A COMMUNITY BASED ORGANISATION LOCATED IN DAGORETI CONSTITUENCY, KAWANGWARE DIVISION, RIRUTA LOCATION, NAIROBI. KARIKA WAS FOUNDED IN 2003 AND AIMS TO EMPOWER THE COMMUNITY, BOTH THE AGED, THE YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE CREATE AWARENESS ON THE RIGHTS OLDER PERSONS AS EMPOWER THEM ON INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES, LIKE BASIC HOME-BASED CARE, ONE ON ONE COUNSELING, PYSCHO-SOCIAL SUPPORT AND GROUP THERAPY AMONG OTHERS. WE ALSO LOBBY BOTH THE NATIONAL AND COUNTY GOVERNMENTS, PARLIAMENTS (NATIONAL AND COUNTY) ON APPROPRIATE AGE-FRIENDLY POLICIES AND A MEMBER OF MANY OTHER NETWORKS LIKE THE AGE-DEMAND ACTIONS OF THE HELPAGE INTERNATIONAL AND OTHER COALITIONS THAT FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF OLDER PERSONS ACROSS KENYA AND THE WORLD.
