The road towards Habitat III
Urban challenges and sustainable development
Habitat III is the united Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development to take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17-20 October 2016. As one of the first UN conference after the adoption of the “Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030” and the Paris Climate Change Agreement of COP21, the Conference will offer a unique opportunity to discuss the important challenge of how cities and towns are planned and managed, in order to fulfill their role as drivers of sustainable development.
With a high-level of participation, the Urban Breakfast in Lisbon will provide an update on the latest developments of Habitat III, and address the main urban challenges that cities of Portugal and abroad will have to overcome in order to achieve development.
Habitat III Urban Breakfasts are open to all Member States and relevant stakeholders, including parliamentarians, civil society organizations, regional and local government and municipality representatives, professionals and researchers, academia, foundations, women and youth groups, trade unions, and the private sector, as well as organizations of the United Nations system and intergovernmental organizations.
