Habitat III Exhibition: An Interactive Platform for Inspired Discussions and Urban Showcases
Quito, Ecuador, 17 October 2016
For Habitat III citizens who were curious to learn more about sustainable urban issues around the world, the Habitat III Exhibition offered a refreshing perspective on city planning, mobility, service provision and resilient infrastructure.
Composed of five areas, the Exhibition brought together member states, organizations, civil society, academia and the private sector in a vibrant space, and invited visitors to think outside of the box. From environmentally friendly construction materials to new financing mechanisms for the New Urban Agenda, the Exhibition was the place to push boundaries and optimise resources such as data and technology to challenge the status quo.
The Exhibition provided a platform for informal and inspired discussions with urban planning experts from all over the world. It is also the only place where people could sample authentic Ecuadorian chocolate, experience future cities through virtual reality, and contribute directly to the idea labs of institutions such as the World Bank.
Under the crisp blue Quito sky, a few blocks away from the Casa de la Cultura, the Habitat III Exhibition was a compelling visit which promised to entertain, inform, and connect participants who tarried on the steep hike to its location.
