Mr.Cornie Huizenga

General Secretary Partnership On Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) Germany

Cornie Huizenga is the Secretary General of the Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT), the largest multi-stakeholder partnership on sustainable, low carbon transport in developing countries. The SLoCaT Partnership plays a lead role in the integration of sustainable, low carbon transport in global policies on sustainable development and climate change, especially the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Cornie played a lead role in the development of the Voluntary Commitments on Sustainable Transport at the Rio+20 conference including the unprecedented USD 175 billion for more sustainable transport by the world’s eight largest multilateral development banks. Through his leadership of the Paris Process on Mobility and Climate (PPMC) he helped to raise the profile of transport in the UNFCCC process and mobilize the sustainable transport community in support of a Climate Change agreement that can accelerate action on low-carbon transport.   Cornie Huizenga is the Secretary General of the Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT), the largest multi-stakeholder partnership working on sustainable transport.    Prior to his engagement with SLoCaT Partnership, he had a lead role in the establishment and institutionalization of the Clean Air Asia (CAI-Asia), which has grown into the leading regional initiative on air quality in Asia. Cornie has served on a regular basis as a consultant on transport and climate change for a broad range of organizations including Multilateral Development Banks, United Nations Organizations, bilateral development organizations and leading NGOs and Foundations on sustainable transport.   Cornie holds a Master's in Human Geography of Developing countries from State University in Utrecht, the Netherlands. He currently lives in Shanghai, China.
