Rebecca Ochong

Land Specialist UN-Habitat Kenya

Rebecca Ochong works at the Land and Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) Unit of the Urban Land and Legislation Branch (ULLG) of UN-Habitat as a Tool and Capacity Development Consultant. Her duties include providing substantive technical support to the implementation of the various GLTN activities such as tool development, knowledge management, capacity enhancement and country level work. She is also the focal point of the Land Policy Initiative (LPI) within the Land and GLTN Unit where she has played an instrumental role in enhancing the collaboration between UN-Habitat/GLTN and LPI through leading on the implementation of various capacity development and other collaborative activities with LPI. LPI is the tripartite consortium of the African Union Commission (AUC), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB). In addition to being the main the main support for the Gender portfolio at the Land and GLTN Unit, she has co-authored various papers and publications on land governance in addition to supporting the coordination of development of a position paper land aimed strengthening messaging around land within the context of sustainable urbanization in the lead up to Habitat III. Rebecca holds a Masters in Land Management from KTH-Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Surveying and Photogrammetry from the University of Nairobi and she is also a current member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (Land Surveyors Chapter). Prior to joining the GLTN Secretariat, she worked on a broad range of land projects and was also engaged as a part-time lecturer at the School of Surveying and Geospatial Sciences at the Technical University of Kenya.
